Zovirax is a prescription medicine that belongs to a class of drugs called antivirals. Zovirax contains aciclovir as its active ingredient and has potent antiviral activity. This medication is mainly used for the treatment of viral infections like genital herpes, cold sores, and chickenpox.
If you are diagnosed with the herpes virus, start the therapy as soon as possible or at the first sign of an outbreak. Your doctor may prescribe you Zovirax tablets depending on your age and medical condition. The tablets are taken orally with or without food.
Take the medication at the same times every day for maximum benefit. Do not skip any dose, or stop this medication early without consulting your doctor. Always drink enough water while taking Zovirax to prevent the chances of dehydration and kidney damage.

2Zovirax Cold Sore Cream delivers the active ingredient, aciclovir, efficiently and deeply into your skin to fight the virus that causes cold sores. Designed to be simple to use and effective, apply Zovirax Cold Sore Cream at the first tingle to get to the cause of your cold sore. Zovirax Cold Sore Cream is uniquely formulated to maximise penetration. Zovirax Cold Sore Cream contains the anti-viral agent, aciclovir 5%, that stops the multiplication of the cold sore virus. Zovirax Suspension contains the active ingredient acyclovir. Zovirax Suspension is an antiviral medication used to treat viral infections caused by herpes viruses, including cold sores (herpes simplex-1), genital herpes, and cold sores. It works by inhibiting the activity of the herpes viruses at the virus’s receptors in the body. This helps to reduce the severity and duration of outbreaks. Zovirax Suspension is taken orally, usually once a day. Zovirax Suspension is taken by mouth and can be taken with or without food. It is recommended that you avoid large meals before taking Zovirax Suspension to reduce the risk of stomach upset. You should take Zovirax Suspension at least 1 hour before or 2.5 hours after you plan to have an appointment with your doctor. You should not skip or stop taking Zovirax Suspension without consulting your doctor as it may cause side effects such as nausea, vomiting, and loss of appetite. If you miss a dose of Zovirax Suspension, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your normal schedule. Do not double the dose to catch up). You should not take Zovirax Suspension if you are also taking fluoroquinolone medicines called tizanidine (no longer available). It is not advisable for you to take Zovirax Suspension if you are allergic to any of the ingredients in Zovirax Suspension. It is not recommended to take Zovirax Suspension if you are taking tizanidine (no longer available). You should not drive a car or operate heavy machinery without consulting with your doctor before taking Zovirax Suspension. You should not use heavy machinery until you know how the medicine affects you. Zovirax Suspension can cause side effects, including headache, diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting. If you experience any of these, you should contact your doctor immediately. Consult your doctor if any of these apply to you; a breast, bowel, or sexual activity. This medicine contains lactose monohydrate. If you are lactose intolerant, consult your doctor before using this medicine. This medicine may cause stomach upset, especially if you eat small meals before taking this medicine. If you experience any of the following symptoms, you should contact a doctor immediately: nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, loss of heart rate, irregular heartbeat, fast or uneven heartbeat, and headache. If you experience any of these symptoms, contact a doctor immediately: persistent headache, vision changes, taste changes, unusual vaginal bleeding, abnormal vaginal bleeding, abnormal liver function (liver function tests), and vomiting. Consult a doctor if any of these symptoms persist for a longer duration than 2 weeks. Zovirax Suspension can make you dizzy or drowsy. Do not drive a car or operate machinery until you know how this medicine affects you. Do not stop taking Zovirax Suspension without consulting a doctor. Be sure to see a doctor if you are hypersensitive to any of the ingredients in Zovirax Suspension. Zovirax Suspension can make you more susceptible to an enlarged prostate, which can cause symptoms such as enlarged prostate glands, pain in the lower back and stomach pain, and difficulty breathing or swallowing.
